The cephalic isolation box. Like many of Alcor’s machines, Hugh Hixon built this contraption from scratch. The patient’s decapitated head is placed inside the silver, circular “halo” medical device and secured with four screws. Chemicals are pumped into the head via perfusion tubes, liquid nitrogen is released into the box, and the freezing process begins.
